The four-piece joined the boyband for shows in the U.K., U.S., Australia and New Zealand, including seven shows at Allphones Arena in 5 Seconds of Summer's home town of Sydney. On 21 November 2013, the band announced that they had signed to Capitol Records and in early 2014 they released their worldwide debut single "She Looks So Perfect" that reached the number one position in 39 countries.

In March 2014, it was announced that 5 Seconds of Summer will once again join One Direction on the road, supporting them on their 2014 "Where We Are Tour" in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Europe. In the following month, their "She Looks So Perfect" EP debuted at number 2 on the Billboard

After their self-titled debut set landed at No. 1 on Billboard 200, the band followed it up with a live album called "LIVESOS" which was led by a cover of "What I Like About You" by American rock band The Romantics.

To promote their music, the band embarked on their first headlining tour "Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour". Opening in May 2015, the trek hit cities in Europe, Australia and New Zealand in addition to North America.

On July 17, 2015, the band began the era of their second album by releasing its lead single "She's Kinda Hot". A month later, they announced that the LP would be called "Sounds Good Feels Good" and would be released worldwide on October 23.
